A Trailer-mounted, Transportable, Ground Station with 4.5m dish for ISI

The design meets the requirement for a combined S-band/X-band ground station capable of being transported in a standard shipping container, to provide rapid deployment anywhere in the world.

The dual-band system provided S-band command and control, as well as X-band downlink reception, with signal-driven autotracking capability. The 4.5m meter dish was split for transportation, and the ground station incorporated GPS, electronic flux gate compass, and inclinometer for on-site alignment and orientation.

The feed, and RF systems used for all signal and autotracking functions were provided by BURS Ltd

The system incorporated the following features:-

• Ability to track EROS earth imaging satellite from temporary sites, in various weather conditions
• Can be transported globally in a standard shipping container
• Trailer-mounted for easy positioning
• Integrated electronics for alignment and control
• Minimum time-to-operation through integrated construction and ease of assembly
• Small size and low weight to minimise transportation cost
